Face in the Book by Mélanie Dowling
We don ‘t need inspiration to find another way
We don ‘t need politicians to tell us how to pray
We don ‘t need spanish inquisition to wash our sins away
We don’t need to blame pollution to say the world is grey
If I tried,very hard I would smile
If I tried, just as hard I would cry
But who is it for
When I find myself isolated & alone
I click my heels & say there’s no place like home
When I realise that all my food has gone to waste
I lock the door & find my space
My face in the book
We don’t need no institution to put on extra weight
We don ‘t need no excavation to dig inside our brains
We don ‘t need fashion information to help us look away
We don’t need your permission to give our soul as bait
If I tried very hard I could smile
If I tried just as hard I could cry
But who ‘d it be for ?
When I find myself isolated & alone
I click my heels & say there’s no place like home
When I realise that all my food has gone to waste
I lock the door & find my space
My face in the book
